Your Mural Step by Step
You may be hesitant to request a customised mural thinking that the process is too complicated.
This is most certainly not the case.
Read the following step by step guide and you will realise just how easy it is.
Remember, the more information you can provide us with, the easier it will be to bring your project to life.
1. The subject
You may already have some ideas as to general theme or content of the mural.
We will discuss your ideas and brainstorm on the major components of the mural.
If you do not have an idea, do not worry we have plenty of concepts that will inspire you.
We will also consider colour, scale, existing features in the room and target audience.
2. The location
We will need to know the size of the wall, the location of the building and how accessible this wall is (simple room, stairs to consider, etc.)
It is helpful if you can send us photos or architectural renderings of the space.
3. The quotation
We send you a quotation for the realisation of your project.
You can get a good idea of cost by looking at our mural pricing sheet.
4. The timing
We agree a suitable timeframe with you for the completion of the mural.
We put together a contract with the specific terms of the project defined.
A 50% deposit is due before the project begins.
We usually take a minimum of four weeks to finalise the design.
The painting of the mural itself is usually done in one week.
5. The design
We start by putting together the discussed ideas on how the final design will look.
We will discuss again with you until we agree on the final design of the mural.
We will complete a sketch of the design so you have an idea of the end result.
We include in our fee one skectch and one revision sketch.
6. The preparation
On the agreed date, we start your mural bringing all the required equipment (protection tape and plastic sheets, paint, brushes, ladder).
We make sure that all furniture and carpet in your room is well protected before we start work.
We also protect your sockets and light switches unless you have decided to incorporate them into the mural.
7. The drawing
We start by drawing the various elements on the picture before applying any paint, so that you can already comment and ask for corrections before the painting starts.
8. The painting
We typically paint for about 5 hours each day.
We apply the colour elements to your painting, starting from the large elements and finalising with the small details.
At the end of each day, either in person or by phone in the evening, we like to hear your feedback on the progress to make sure we are on the right track.
9. The completion
Our focus is on getting things right, and we work until we are both satisfied with the results.
Are you pleased?
Is there anything we wanted here that I forgot?
Would you change anything about the mural?
We create a list of anything I left out, and assuming it is within the original scope, I make the final tweaks.
Then the mural is complete and the remaining payment is due.
10. The cleaning
We make sure that we remove all our equipment and leave the room clean and tidy.
The paint we use dries in very little time and the odour will quickly disappear with proper ventilation of the room.
